James G. Pyne has nearly 20 years of experience as both a federal and state prosecuting attorney. Mr. Pyne obtained his undergraduate degree from Case Western Reserve University, and graduated from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1984. Upon passing the Maryland State Bar Exam, Mr. Pyne began his career as an Assistant State's Attorney in the State's Attorney's Office for Baltimore County.
Mr. Pyne was a prosecutor for Baltimore County for over 14 years. During this time, Mr. Pyne handled all types of criminal prosecutions, including homicides, violent crimes, and sex offenses. For over ten years, Mr. Pyne was a member of the Special Investigations Division, which handled the investigation and prosecution of all felony drug prosecutions in Baltimore County. Mr. Pyne also was appointed to be the chief of the White Collar Crime Unit.
In 1999, Mr. Pyne was appointed by Attorney General Janet Reno as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Maryland. While at the United States Attorneys Office, Mr. Pyne handled the investigation and prosecution of major narcotics organizations, as well as the prosecution of other violent federal crimes such as carjackings involving homicides.
Mr. Pyne left the United States Attorneys Office in March, 2004. His curent practice involves the representation of clients involved in all aspects of civil and criminal litigation in both the state and federal courts.
